What Can We Do?

When grandchildren come to visit. What shall we do? We went to the Hall of Ideas at the Center for the Arts. It was closed! So we went to the Tridge and hiked along the river.  On the way home we stopped for ice cream.

But what to do today?

Our neighbor kids are still in school, so the days are long. Today I remembered my nephew, Ruhl, has an archery center. So we went there and will go back on Friday! They loved it!

They both learned quickly and did well! Ruhl had a pink bow for Maddie! Then after practicing with those, Ruhl brought out the compound bows! They did well! Mason has a good eye and hit the bull’s eye almost every time! They both have sore arms now!!! So they can heal tomorrow and Friday we’ll go back. Thanks, Ruhl, for a great afternoon!

So, now I have another option of what to do with grandchildren when they come to visit!!!

Happy Birthday, Maddie

Happy Birthday, Maddie! Maddie nine years old! Madelyn Grace…a beautiful name for a beautiful girl! You are my youngest grandchild and just look at you! Nine years old! I can hardly believe it! You’re a very sweet granddaughter! I do wish we could be together more! But with you in South Carolina and me in Michigan, well, we get together as often as we can. I’m sure your family is celebrating with you! I wish Grandpa and I could be there, too.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Maddie! She’s such a sweet girl. Please be with her, keep her safe as she goes to school each day on the bus. Please keep her well as she grows up. Help her to make good friends who will influence her in the right ways. Help her to learn of You and to love You. I love Maddie so much and You love her even more!

Goodbye Again

Goodbyes are so hard. We’ve had so many lately. Christy, Mason, Maddie came on Tuesday, surprising us by bringing Elmise and Armon, children of Rob & Jessica. They left today after dinner today.  Tim and Shauna came on Thursday about six and will stay until next Friday. Pam and Gene came on Friday at noon and left today after dinner. Ted, Sydney, and Isabella came today! They arrived while we were all at church.  Ted left today, but Sydney and Bella will stay until next weekend when Ted comes back to get them! Here are the grown-ups having dinner together. IMG_1093                                           Jerry, Shauna, Tim, Ted, Gene, Pam, and Christy. We let the kids fill their plates and go outside to eat!

We had a very good week and weekend with some of our children and grandchildren. But today while some more came, some had to leave.  So we had to say goodbye. IMG_1097  These are the grandchildren, four are leaving and two have just arrived! Sydney-16, Maddie-8, Elmise-13, Bella-13, Mason-13,  Arman-10.

Ashlynn and Elmise, Good friends. Goodbyes are hard.

Happy Birthday, Madelyn Grace

Happy Birthday, Maddie! I can’t believe you’re eight years old!

Maddie seven years old!  I don’t see you often enough! Twice, this year…that’s not enough! I want to see you often so I get to know you and you get to know me! But I do know you are a very sweet and beautiful girl who is growing up too quickly!

I remember so well the day you were born! Your mama had to stay in bed because of high blood pressure so we went from Michigan to your house to help out with your three brothers and sister. Your daddy had taken them to a Christmas party put on by his work company so your mama suggested Grandpa and I go out for supper. She said she’d be okay and it wouldn’t take us long so we decided to go. We found a restaurant nearby, ordered our food and a take-out meal for your mama. We started eating when my cell phone rang. I answered it and it was your mama! She said we’d better get back home because the baby was coming!!! We stopped eating, cancelled the take-out meal and hurried back to the house. Your daddy had already brought Max, Megan, Miller and Mason home from the Christmas party. They missed getting their gifts!!! Grandpa and I stayed with them while your daddy and mama went to the hospital and soon…there you were!!! We were all so excited to know the new baby was born! A beautiful little girl named Madelyn Grace! Next day we all got to go to the hospital to visit you and your mama!

Now, eight years later, you are still beautiful and sweet! I wish for you a very fun, great day!

Heavenly Father, thank You for Maddie! She’s a joy to have as a granddaughter! Please watch over her as she plays, studies, works and rides in the car. Help her as she makes  friends. Help her to always love You and serve You. I love Maddie so much and You love her even more!
